Massilia Motors, Friday, July 31, launched the 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport into the Nigerian market at the country’s first-ever virtual car launch. The event, which was streamed live on YouTube was, indeed, a class act that lived up to all expectations .

Managing Director, Massilia Motors, who is also the Country Delegate for CFAO Nigeria, Thomas Pelletier, described the new Pajero Sport as a “rugged vehicle but very comfortable.” He disclosed that his company would continue to offer quality products and services to Nigerians despite the challenges brought about by Covid-19.

According to Pelletier, “We are very competitive…We promise first class automobile experience – the same quality of service you get anywhere in the world.,” adding, “For us, service quality is our priority.”

Speaking further, the Managing Director said: “Nigeria is full of ups and downs but we’ve been coping. CFAO has been in Nigeria for 117 years. Covid-19 has impacted our business, auto demand has dropped and auto sales have dropped but we resolved not to retrench any staff of Massilia Motors…with the hope for better times.”

General Manager, Sales, Tunji Itiola, spoke on measures put in place to meet the current challenges.

“We’ve always been forward thinking. Before the lockdown was announced in March, we divided our staff into five teams ….and during the lockdown, we had the Empathy Week with a message to our customers to “Stay Safe, Stay Strong,” he said. “When work started, we started negotiating with new customers/dealers.”

Head of Marketing and Communications , Funmi Abiola, assured the company’s customers to look forward to more excitement with the new Pajero Sport. She said the tagline – Drive Your Ambition- was released by Mitsubishi in 2015 when the brand turned 100 years.

“Ambition is a word that resonates with us, “she explained, saying Massilia Motors had to partner some groups to inspire the younger generation to live the Nigerian dream.

Presenting the car during a virtual tour with the host, Bolanle Olukanni, General Manager, Sales,  Itiola, said the fourth generation Pajero Sport which has ” 24 solid years of reliability” is “more tough, (comes with) more luxury and is more comfortable.”

Starting with the exterior, Ijiola said the 7-seater SUV is more spacious and the seat  could be compressed into five to take more luggage. Describing it as “more rugged and really made for the Nigerian road,” he revealed that the new Pajero Sport also comes with a kick-motion technology whereby the tail gate could be opened by simply kicking it with the leg.

Itiola listed other features of the new SUV to include the auto hold function on the electronic parking brake which is a new feature in the 2020 model and the entertainment system which comes with a screen that mirrors the phone and uses GPRS/Google Map to make life more better. Others include a brand new cluster area, bigger cockpit and an enlarged leg room.

The event was rounded off with a special message from Mitsubishi Brand Ambassador, Mike Edwards, who later introduced DJ Neptune, who provided music at the live premiere.
