Kia Motors Reports Global Sales of 253,780 Vehicles in April

Korean automotive giant, Kia Motors Corporation, Monday, announced its April 2016 global sales figures (export sales, domestic sales and sales from overseas plants) for passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles, recording a total of 253,780 units sold.

This figure, according to a statement, represents a 0.5% year-on-year increase compared to the same month of 2015.
The statement said in April, Kia posted year-on-year sales increases in the domestic Korean market (12.7% growth with 48,505 units sold), North America (6.2% growth with 64,215 units sold) and Europe (5.0% growth with 52,343 units sold)
Cumulatively through the first four months of 2016, Kia’s global sales totalled 940,667 units for a year-on-year decrease of 0.3%. Korea (176,630 units sold), Europe (197,831 units sold) and North America (224,501 units sold) have seen an 12.1%, 7.1% and 3.9% rise in sales, respectively.
Kia’s bestselling model in overseas markets during April 2016 was the Sportage compact CUV with 48,497 units sold. The C-segment Cerato (Known as ‘Forte’ or ‘K3’ in some markets) was the second best seller with 34,099 units sold, while the B-segment Rio (known as ‘K2’ in China), Optima D-segment sedan and Sorento midsized CUV followed with 32,172, 17,941 and 16,899 units sold, respectively.
