200 FRSC Officers for Apapa Road as Work Begins on Lagos Airport Road Next Month

The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi, Wednesday, promised to deploy no fewer than 200 officers of the Corps on the Apapa-Wharf axis of Lagos to help in traffic control and management as construction work begins on the Apapa-Wharf road in earnest.  Oyeyemi made the promise during a working visit to Apapa,  to assess the traffic situation which is being compounded by ongoing construction work on the dilapidated road.

Ambode

The Corps Marshal’s promise came on a day the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, disclosed that the expansion and reconstruction of the Oshodi-International Airport Road into a 10-lane carriage-way would begin next month.

Speaking at the Third Quarter Town Hall Meeting held at the Badore Ferry Terminal, Lagos, Ambode said the construction, which had already been awarded, would see the transformation of the road from four lanes to 10 lanes from Oshodi to the International Airport with interchange and flyover that would drop commuters to the Local Airport.

The Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, had in May 2017,  approved that the road should be handed over to the Lagos State Government for total reconstruction.

Ambode, who had described the current state of the road as a national disgrace, said that work would begin on the road in September.
