Nigeria is set to showcase the ruggedness and reliability of the country’s locally-assembled vehicles to both local and international audience. The vehicles are billed to drive this year’s Argungu Motor Rally which kicks off , Wednesday, in Argungu, Kebbi State, Nigeria.

Already, Stallion Motors Nigeria has positioned its locally-assembled Changan mid-size SUV and Nissan NP Hardbody pick-up , among others, for a 730 kilometre road trip from Abuja, the nation’s capital, to Argungu in Kebbi State for the kick off of the 2020 Motor Rally.

Other locally-assembled vehicles to power the show include those from GAC Motors, Elizade (JAC), Ashok Leyland, Foton, Innoson as well as others.

On Monday, a Stakeholders’  meeting was convened by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo, in Abuja as part of the ongoing processes  to chart the way forward for the country’s automotive sector.

The meeting which was hosted by the Director-General, National Automotive Design and Development Commission (NADDC), Jelani Aliyu, was attended by  the industry stakeholders and top government officials.  It was, therefore, finally agreed, that the locally-assembled vehicles should power the 2020 Argungu Motor Rally billed to start on Wednesday, as a way to showcase their ruggedness.

The Motor Rally has become a major feature of the popular traditional Argungu Fishing Festival in Kebbi State which is undoubtedly an annual crowd-pulling event, attracting both local and international tourists to Argungu,  a rural fishing community in Northern Nigeria.
